Ma Lin
Ma Lin, a native of Ho-chung, Shansi Province, was the son of the painter Ma Yuan. He served in the Painting Academy under the emperors Ning-tsung (r. 1195-1224) and Li-tsung (r. 1225-1264), reaching the rank of chih-hou. Inheriting the family style, Ma Lin was skilled in painting landscapes, birds-and-flowers, and figures.
